Veneers & Crowns

What are Veneers and Crowns?

Dental crowns and porcelain veneers are usually used to restore weak or discoloured teeth. They can effectively restore the shape and appearance of a tooth, while also protecting it from any further damage.

Veneers

Most porcelain veneers are only about 1mm thick and are placed over the front side of a tooth to restore its appearance. While a crown can slightly improve the shape of a damaged tooth, they’re mostly used to improve the colour of a tooth; this means they can only be used when the underlying tooth structure is relatively healthy and intact.

Crowns

A dental crown, unlike veneers, typically encases the entire tooth. A crown is usually much thicker than veneers, which means your existing tooth might need to be trimmed back to allow space for the crown. This is because the crown, once cemented, will become the new outer surface for your tooth and will function in the same way a natural, healthy tooth would. Dental crowns are used in instances where a tooth is badly broken or decayed.

What are the Benefits of Dental Veneers and Dental Crowns?

There are countless benefits associated with dental crowns and veneers, including:

  • A healthier, brighter smile: Dental crowns and veneers will help restore you confidence, and will restore your teeth to a natural, aesthetically pleasing condition.
  • They will match your other teeth: Veneers are only thin, translucent shells, so they provide a natural appearance with minimal light reflecting properties. Both crowns and veneers are also available in various shades, to ensure they closely match the rest of your smile. – Instant results: Crowns and veneers achieve instant, noticeable results.
  • Multiple improvements: They can improve the colour, shape, and position of your teeth all in one go.
  • Both veneers and crowns have stain-resistant properties, so you can have your tea and coffee and drink them too!
  • Durable finishes: Allowing proper care is taken and a good dental routine is followed, crowns and veneers can stand the test of time and will achieve long-lasting results.
